Business Support Officer

With my background in sales, I decided I wanted a change of career and obtained a Diploma to help me expand on my current skills and experiences, to enable me to reach my goals too. After obtaining my Diploma, I joined MBDA as a contingency worker, and a year later, I became a permanent member of staff. 

I have a real interest in aerospace and defence, so it makes me very proud and happy to be working here. My role has changed over time – supporting heads and teams in different areas of the business. It’s given me a great understanding of the team spirit and dedication MBDA staff have in delivering for customers.

I enjoy learning and expanding my knowledge and gaining new experience. I am grateful that MBDA have provided various learning platforms for us to use and develop ourselves. MBDA listen to their staff and give us all opportunities to learn and progress. I really love the culture and our five Values - Innovation, Passion, Team Spirit, Integrity and Commitment. 

I think it is very important to have that 1-2-1 chat with your manager, to let them know what your goals and aspirations are. MBDA enable this by having our discussions recorded and continuously reviewed. We also have the opportunity to discuss any training we would like to attend. MBDA are very good at developing their staff and giving us various ways to learn. This can be learning platforms, videos, audio, virtual and classroom settings. 

I love the Team UKSF (UK Support Function) I work with; it is a great community and we all help and support each other. When I am top of my game, I get a real sense that my colleagues and I have contributed towards delivering our customer’s needs. MBDA are very good at recognition and appreciation for the job we do, and it is really nice when managers and colleagues say ‘thank you’! 

If I was giving advice to somebody thinking of joining MBDA, I would tell them that MBDA are very good at listening and giving anyone the opportunity to share their ideas.
