Sales and Business Development Degree Apprentice (Business)

Joining back in September 2020, my knowledge and understanding of the business and our products has increased vastly. As an apprentice my role changes continually, however, so far I have had the opportunity to take on great responsibility in order to manage large projects and supply real life bids for export nations.

MBDA stood out to me as a really fascinating company to work for. I had a keen interest in the military and defence, and also wanted to build on my overall business understanding so MBDA was the perfect fit for me. I work within the Sales and Business Development directorate and are continually completing placements within the directorate.  

The experience within the company far outweighs my original external expectations. I was amazed at the level of support I was offered upon joining and throughout, from stakeholders across the business, both within the UK and in our overseas offices. As an apprentice you are treated maturely and trusted which makes working for MBDA extremely rewarding.

As a Degree Apprentice, I am given the opportunity to study for a qualification in Business and Management (accredited by the Chartered Management Institute), but I am also provided with the opportunity to attend self-development courses and webinars. My scheme also provides me with a vast range of placements, allowing me to experience different functions across the business and ensure I complete the apprenticeship scheme with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the business, the products and also the defence industry.  

To succeed here, the most important things you need are teamwork and integrity. When the team works together and the overall mission is common then we achieve fantastic results. From my placements I have found that team work is essential and often leads to great networking opportunities.

Opportunities are endless at MBDA. Everyone is extremely supportive and if there’s a chance to develop and gain experience elsewhere then there is nobody stopping you.
