Business Management Degree Apprentice

I’m an apprentice, currently working in MEP Future Systems. My role changes placement by placement, and I feel that my level of responsibility has increased with my confidence.

I did believe that university would be more difficult than A-Levels, but in reality I have found university easier. Perhaps this is due to the overwhelming support from MBDA and the fact that the skills I have gained at work compliment my degree. 

I have been surprised at the sheer vastness of departments in MBDA and how they differ so greatly. I love how much I am learning! I know for sure that I would not be gaining the same skills that I have if I was just at university or if I was working an entry level position elsewhere.
The main aim is of course my degree, but my current manager is so encouraging and helps me to seek out experiences that contribute to the skills I want to gain as well as my interests. One example of this is that I have found recently that I am interested in business contract law. My manager helped me to find a training course on the MBDA portal which I will be undertaking in November of this year.

I am a very organised person and a good day for me entails lots of items being ticked off my to-do list. But more than that I love succeeding at overcoming a challenge. There’s no better feeling of accomplishment than sorting out a problem that was at first terrifying, or getting a ‘well done’ for completing a particularly tricky task to a high standard.

What really matters in your job is the attitude of those around you and at MBDA you’ll find managers and colleagues who want nothing but to support you and help you grow, professionally and personally. There is a general ethos of teamwork and togetherness that I didn’t sense in any of the other apprenticeship opportunities that I had interviews for. That was what ultimately made me choose MBDA: the people.
