Security & Vetting
MBDA UK requires all employees to achieve the appropriate clearance relevant to the role. The following information will help you to understand the different types and provide further guidance.
Many roles working for MBDA UK Limited will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions may mean that factors including your background, nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and/or your place of birth may limit those roles that you can perform for the organisation.
Due to the nature of the business, and the interests of national security, there is a strong element of sensitivity around who is eligible for security clearance.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed and access to certain sites and information is permitted. Depending on the role and duties of the role to be performed, a successful applicant to MBDA UK Limited will be required to be vetted to Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), Security Clearance (SC) or in some cases Developed Vetting (DV) level, before joining the organisation. This may mean your security clearance (and therefore your appointment) will take longer or, in some cases, not be possible.
Each application is reviewed on a case by case basis and in most cases is the decision of UKSV and not MBDA. An application for SC can take a minimum of approx. 8 weeks and DV a minimum of 20 weeks by the national vetting provider UKSV.
For SC transfers, MBDA will first need to check the validity of an existing SC as not all are transferrable.
All checks and clearance requirements will be managed appropriately following offer stage and prior to asking a successful applicant to give notice to any current employer. However, should an applicant decide to give notice to their current employer prior to the completion of the clearance process, this is the decision of the applicant and not MBDA.
