Our Apprentices Shortlisted For IET Achievement Awards 2022

We proud to say that three of our apprentices have been shortlisted for this year’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Achievement Awards.
Katie Allenton, Ben Martin and Niamh Pamment were all nominated for the Engineering and Technology Apprentice award. This award recognises individuals who stand out from their peers and are making achievements in their apprenticeship. Individuals who are role models to others and are passionate about promoting engineering to the world.
Andrew Marchant, HR Manager for our Graduate & Apprenticeship Programmes, reacting to the news of the shortlisting said,
“The shortlisting of Katie, Ben and Niamh is testament to their hard work and dedication to develop themselves to be the best they can be. It’s also a reflection of the support they have received from the mangers and teams around them whilst on the MBDA UK Apprenticeship Programme, as they know how important professional qualifications & recognition are to the success of our business and for the Apprentices future careers”.
The IET Achievement Awards exist to celebrate the incredible talent within engineering and technology, with a wide range of categories to recognise people who have made a real impact in their industry.
Katie Allerton graduated from our General Engineering Higher Apprenticeship this September and also represents MBDA at careers fairs and recently judged a Robot Rumble competition, an outreach program where we sponsor VEX robotics kits to local schools.
Ben Martin is one of our Engineering Apprentices. He has worked across various different placements during his apprenticeship and is also involved with our work experience program, giving students a taste of working within engineering.
Niamh Pamment is doing our Environmental Degree Apprenticeships and works in material testing and innovative internal research and development. Niamh is also the project manager of MBDA’s participation in Robot Rumble and is passionate about encouraging young people from all walks of life into engineering.
Reacting to the shortlisting Katie said,
"It was a surprise to make the shortlist but lovely to be externally recognised for my effort over the past four years. Great to see a few other MBDA faces on the shortlist too! Good luck Ben and Niamh”.
Ben added,"I am very proud to have been shortlisted for the final. A big thanks to everyone who has aided my development over the apprenticeship and the best of luck to the others nominated”.
Niamh concluded the trio’s reactions saying, “I couldn’t believe it when the letter came through my door to tell me that I had been shortlisted! I would like to thank all the outreach programs I work with and the ECP Team for all their support during Robot Rumble. Good Luck Everyone”.
The Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 20 October 2022.
