Reserves Day
Tuesday 25 June 2024
Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, which makes up approximately one sixth of the UK’s Armed Forces personnel. So they play a significant role in protecting the nation’s security whilst balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they are ready.
So Reserves Day is a great way to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution Reservists make to our Armed Forces.
Russell, one of our many ex-services employees and member of our Armed Forces Community employee network, tells us what is happening on the day across our business to celebrate Reservists in our workplace:
“At MBDA, on Reserves Day we encourage our serving Reservist employees to wear their uniform to work. It gives us an opportunity to thank them for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving our country.
“This year, we also invited Reserve units from the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, Royal Navy Reserve, Army Reserve, Royal Marines Reserve and the Royal Air Force Police to our sites in Bristol and Stevenage to give all our employees a flavour of what life is like as a Reservist.”
You can read some of the experiences our Reservists have had in their roles: Charles here, and Bill here.
As an employer, MBDA recognises the benefits that come from the training and experiences that our individuals in the Reserve are able to access. This develops the individuals and contributes significantly to the effectiveness of the business, in terms of understand our customer, as well as contributing to and leading our teams. To enable the training MBDA has generous Reserve training employment polices to ensure that those that give up their time to serve are not financially impacted.
