Apprentice engineer shortlisted for Institution of Engineering and Technology award
We are proud to share more news of another of our apprentice engineers shortlisted for an award.
Penny, one of our Manufacturing Engineering Degree Apprentices based in Bolton, has made the finals of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Apprentice and Technician Awards.
These awards recognise individuals who stand out from their peers and are making achievements in their areas of expertise. Penny’s nomination showed her passion and achievements in her apprenticeship and what a role model to others she is in her promotion of engineering to the world.
Reacting to her shortlisting, Penny said, “I’m honoured to be shortlisted for the IET Engineering Apprentice of the Year award. This recognition means so much to me and reflects the hard work and passion I’ve put into my journey as an apprentice. I’m grateful to my mentors and colleagues for their support, and being recognized at this level inspires me to keep pushing forward and contributing to the field I love. Regardless of the outcome, I’m incredibly proud to be part of this experience.”
Penny has been working at MBDA since 2021 and is in the third year of her apprenticeship. She has completed a range of placements during her apprenticeship, earning and learning whilst studying towards a Mechanical Engineering degree at University.
Having undertaken various placements as part of her apprenticeship, Penny has contributed to our business processes, strategy, and production efficiency.
In addition, Penny also works with our work experience team and the new starter induction team. She is also an active STEM Ambassador, conducting career fairs and talks to inspire the next generation of engineers.
These awards are given to those achieving great things on their engineering journey. Well done on your shortlisting Penny, and good luck in the finals!
Nominees for the IET awards have to be on IET Accredited Apprenticeship, which is what we offer at MBDA.
